Physical Activity Programs

Physical Activity Programs are organized and facilitated by members of the Physical Activity Committee. If you are interested in supporting Physical Activity Programs, there are many ways to get involved. For additional information about any of our committees, or to suggest a new program, please contact the Healthy Lifestyles team at Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Health Advancement at 715-221-8400.

Marshfield Area Walking Paths
13 walking paths are measured and mapped throughout the city. The distance of each path ranges from less than 1 mile to 3.5 miles. Community organizations adopt the paths and volunteer their time to mark the path routes by painting the Healthy Lifestyles – Marshfield Area Coalition’s red apple icon on the sidewalks. Bicycle Discount Program
The Bicycle Discount Program encourages Marshfield residents to choose bicycling for trips they may otherwise take by car. During the program, which runs June 1 through August 31, participating businesses offer a discount or free item to individuals that ride their bike to their organization or business (bikers must show their helmet). Click here for more details on locations and prizes.

Bike Rodeo
Each year during Children’s Fest in April, coalition members organize a children’s bike rodeo. The bike rodeo teaches young bicyclists the skills they need to ride a bicycle safely. The rodeo includes a bicycle safety check, lessons on road rules and hand signals and a course for young bicyclists to practice their skills.

Safe Routes to School
Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs improve the health and well-being of children by encouraging them to walk or bike to school. The coalition is exploring creating a SRTS walking school bus program, where a group of children walk to school with one or more adults, in much the same way a school bus would drive them to school.

Walk to School Day (a SRTS program)
Walk to School Day is an international event aimed at building awareness for the need for walkable communities and the health benefits of walking. The coalition works with community members and Marshfield schools to organize annual Walk to School Events and the Walk to School Challenge.
